Description: Register at: www.mccsHH.com/EFMP.html The Two Day workshop is designed for military parents of children with special needs and professionals (EFMP Managers, School Liaison Officers, educators) that work with children with special needs. Workshop topics can include: • Working with the educational or early intervention planning teams to access services. (IEPs or IFSPs and 504 plans) • Accessing educational and medical records and developing a comprehensive home file. • Communication strategies • Wills and Guardianship (Why won’t a typical military will work for me?) • Federal and State laws regarding education of students with disabilities (IDEA 2004 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act) • Making connections with community resources - networking. • Making informed decisions with respect to overseas assignments & DODEA. (PCSing) • Working effectively with military systems such as TRICARE, and the EFMP.

Description: The Parent Professional Teams Workshop is an annual extensive 4.5 day training This workshop is established to strengthen teams so that they can return to their installation to assist families who have individuals with disabilities Participants will gain: Skills to develop and maintain effective parent support and information groups on local installations, Advanced level training on Federal and Military Laws and regulations, Skills in team dynamics, Ability to access TRICARE, and TRICARE/ECHO services, Skills in negotiation and mediation, Information on the Exceptional Family Member Programs (EFMP) for each branch of service, Information on networking with resources within the civilian and military communities to assist families including accessing decision makers at the installation and federal level.
